Backflip!

Howard’s really caving now.

Yesterday the Coalition and the ALP joined forces in the Senate to block a Greens motion to hold a judicial inquiry into the intelligence agencies.

Mr Howard told parliament that "for once I agree with the Leader of the Opposition" and that they should wait until the parliamentary inquiry reported before making a decision.

Make that twice:

In a desperate decision to regain the agenda from the new Opposition Leader, the Prime Minister surprised his own colleagues with a backflip that dramatically cuts the taxpayer contribution to MPs' superannuation to 9 per cent of salary for those elected from this year's poll.

Can’t wait for the next Newspoll.
